I absolutely loved this book! I could not put it down. I want to write short story, and with this being your first novel, I was wondering how long it took for you to write it? I hope I hear from you soon.
Hi Natalie! Thanks so much for reading and for stopping by! I spent the end of 2012 and much of 2013 writing Letters to Zell. In 2014, I did a detailed editing pass with my agent before we sold it, then, of course, another with the publisher. All in all just over two years. New Charity Blues went much faster, but I’d been thinking about it for a long time and had a detailed outline. Wishing you all the very best in wherever your writing journey takes you next!
Thanks for getting back to me, and thanks for your thoughts. I have one more quick question though, and I will stop bothering you. Do you think you will write another novel about the princesses, so we can see what happens with Rory? I didn’t want it to end. I would love for her to find Fred, and maybe Bianca could finally find her dad? I used to work for Disney so the magic never goes away.
Natalie, I don’t know why I didn’t see this comment earlier. I’m so sorry I’m months late in answering. I may well write some more about these women — life is definitely less interesting without them. I love Disney, too, and I wanted to play with the aspect of storytelling, not to in any way abash them. I love that they keep storytelling front and center in our lives. When I revisit these tales, I’ll be celebrating and hope you’ll join me. Happy New Year!
